Rashmi Sahoo, Director of Odisha’s ready-to-eat food products brand FARRMB and FROZIT founder and well-known mompreneur, has shined at the recently held International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge-2022 summit in Madrid, Spain. Every year the IWEC Foundation recognises a few women entrepreneurs from around the world who have not just excelled in their field but also given back to society.
This year Sahoo has bagged the prestigious Best Woman Entrepreneur Award 2022 for her outstanding leadership quality. She is the first Odia woman entrepreneur to have been bestowed with such a rare honour.
Personal Life
Sahoo has grown up seeing her illustrious father, Sarat Kumar Sahoo, epitheted as the ‘Spice Man’ of Odisha and started solo her Bisweswar Foods Pvt. Ltd (FarrmB) in 2014, running a spice house of repute.
While bidding adieu to her management career, she pulled her shocks up and got ready to follow in her father’s footsteps, who already had an image of a successful entrepreneur.
Having been trained in food processing in Italy and Switzerland, Sahoo always dreamt to serve delicacies that add a burst of flavour to the taste buds of her customers.
The businesswoman then took the leap drawing inspiration from the real-life success of her father.

Rashmi Sahoo’s Struggles
While women in our country are still considered to be less ambitious and not supposed to lead an initiative let alone turn it into a profit-making business, Sahoo took the challenge and proved her mettle. Today, Rashmi’s FarrmB and FROZIT is the warehouse that contains hundreds of ready-to-eat, nutritional cereals, cookies, beverages, etc.
After extensive market research, the businesswoman took on a new adventure to hygienically procure and process Odisha’s traditional sweet dish recipes like ‘ Podapitha’ and Kheer( an elixir of milk sugar, rice and aroma spice). She wanted to make it available for consumers anytime and anywhere around the country.
Sahoo is credited to introduce the concept of a hygenic frozen foods business in Odisha. In a way, she created a kind of revolution in Odisha’s ready-to-eat food industry.

FarrmB has become the first processed foods enterprise in that state that is led by a mompreneur. Rashmi Sahoo has taken risks, tackled challenges and has become an iconic woman entrepreneur of the state. With her sheer grit, resolution and strength of purpose, she has proved women can achieve anything if they put their minds and efforts into it. She has been awarded at numerous business forums in Odisha and India.
