For the longest time, men have been known as being better in business. They’ve built themselves this reputation that men are better when it comes to the business world. How many times have we heard the saying “Women and business don’t mix”? It’s always been said that women don’t know anything about business. It’s a Man’s World, as some would say. But that’s not necessarily true. In fact, these last few years, there’s been a huge increase of women in business leadership roles. More and more women are found in CEO positions. Women are taking a chance and starting their own business. They’re taking on the path of entrepreneurship. No longer is it a “Man’s World”.
What’s even greater is that they are doing a better job than men. Companies that are women owned are more successful than those owned by men. Profits are better, company is better organized and structured and employees are happier. Let’s face it. Women were meant to become entrepreneurs. But why is that? What is it that women are doing differently than men that makes them better entrepreneurs? Well, we did some research and here’s what we found out!
Women Make Better Leaders
A research made by the Harvard Business Review revealed that women are better in leadership roles compared to men. Whether it’s because of their natural nurturing side or just a women’s intuition, women are much better in leadership positions. They are more caring, understanding and are also great motivators to encourage their team to do better. They work hard on building relationships with their employees. Women leaders represent honesty and integrity in their work values. In the long run, their qualities will contribute towards the growth and success of the company.
Women are more likely to expand and grow their business compared to men
Maybe it has to do with having something to prove or being constantly told no. But women are not afraid to expand and grow their business. In fact, their appetite for growth is much stronger than men. Recent studies have shown that more than half of women entrepreneurs are planning on either growing their business or starting another one soon, while only 18% of male entrepreneurs are looking at growth and expansion opportunities.
Women are more open about their business
Men have big egos. They are too proud to admit when things are going bad because they’re afraid of admitting failure. Women on the other side are an open book. They are openly honest about their business. During a conversation, women tend to go straight to the point. They aren’t afraid to say when they’re facing issues in their business. This makes it easy to find the problem and get help in fixing the issue before the business suffers.
Women understand the human side of the business
Consumers today are looking for a connection with the companies they purchase products from. They crave it. Women have this inherited within them. They understand the connection that their customers are looking for which is why they take the time to understand their clients. They listen to them. Study them. Come up with strategies and ideas to build that connection between them and their clients. On this point, women definitely have a huge advantage compared to men.
Women are better negotiators
Negotiations are a huge part of any business. While men tend to be hard negotiators to come out as the winner, women do things differently. They don’t negotiate to win. This would mean that someone would lose and which isn’t great for anyone. Women negotiate in a way that everyone comes out as a winner. You know when they say that women are great at compromising, well in this case, it’s definitely in their advantage. Women go into negotiations with a win-win attitude. This makes them much better negotiators compared to men.
