Elenora Bernard, a well-known Caribbean-American Businesswoman was found beaten to death at her home in Brooklyn, New York by NYPD.
The police found Bernard’s body in her home after responding to a 911 call. It was later determined by the medical examiner that she died of asphyxiation.
This news created a great sadness in the Brooklyn community as many mourn the tragic death of Bernard a beloved community Activist.
Andre Hooper, who lived next door to Bernard was arrested by authorities as a person of interest but has now been charged with murder.

It was reported that Bernard is Khari Edwards’s mother, a former candidate for Brooklyn borough president.
Bernard’s neighbor Micheline Jenty stated, “That is sad, really sad. I can’t sleep because anytime when I come and sit here, she would be there talking to me.”
Former New York City Council member Dr. Una Clarke who represented the 40th congressional district shared a statement on the passing of Elnora Bernard, “ I have known Eleanor Edwards for over 40 years. Community and Business leader in the Trinidadian/Caribbean American business leadership One of the Founders of the Minority Women’s Business Enterprise. Her Cultural and Civic Engagement among Caribbean Americans have been invaluable. Her tragic passing has left a void that cannot be filled in our community,” with a broken heart emoji.
