HOUSTON – The University of Houston women’s basketball team will head to sunny St. Petersburg, Fla., for a pair of Thanksgiving weekend games against Portland and Florida on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
THE GAME
- Portland has lost three-straight games since winning two in a row to open the season.
- The Pilots have one win against a Division I opponent.
- The Cougars won their last Thanksgiving Week opening game, vs Arizona State in Cancun, Mexico.
- Houston is 1-1 in its last two Thanksgiving Week tournaments.
- Houston has received production from a different leading scorer each game this season (Blair, Hill, Patterson, Young).
LAST TIME OUT
- Four Cougars scored in double figures in the loss against Florida State.
- Houston forced overtime thanks to a layup with less than 10 seconds remaining by senior Tiara Young.
- Houston trailed by as many as 11 points in the game and came back to force overtime thanks to a 23-13 second quarter scoring margin and a 17-11 fourth quarter scoring margin.
- Junior Laila Blair posted a season-high 19 points to lead the Cougars in scoring for the first time this year.
