The gender wage gap is still a huge issue in today’s workforce. You would think that with the rise of women in the workforce, the gap with me now non-existent, right? Wrong! Today, more then ever, the gender wage gap is a huge problem. In every industry, women are demanding equal pay. We hear about it and we read about it. Heck, it’s even an issue in Hollywood. Female actors are demanding to get the same pay then their male colleagues but it looks like it’s going no where. For decades women have been asking for equal pay. And while the gap has gotten smaller in certain areas, it’s still not completely closed. So, what seems to be the solution? Quitting their jobs and starting their own business.
Women need to get paid at their just value
If women are unable to get the same salary then their male colleagues for the same job description, then why not just quit and start your own business. It seems that more and more women have decided that entrepreneurship is the way to go. To break free from social constraints, women have decided that the best way to get paid at their full value is to start their own business and set their own salary. By becoming entrepreneurs, women can achieve financial independence without relying on the status quo. They no longer have to fight to get paid at their just value or compete with their male colleagues.
By having their salary based solely on their work and not their gender, women are able to close the gender wage gap and get the salary they deserve. It’s not asking for special treatment, it’s simply asking to be treated with respect and having a salary that is based on their job and not whether the are a woman or a man.
Inspiring Women Entrepreneurs
Now more then ever, women entrepreneurs are on the rise. There’s been a huge increase in women entrepreneurship in recent years. The wage gap is largely the reason behind this increase. According to the National Organization for Women (NOW), women are loosing on average about 500,000$ due to the gender wage gab. That’s half a million dollars. It’s no wonder that women are frustrated and leaving the workforce to start their own business. By becoming entrepreneurs, they can set their own salary and earn what they should be earning. In the US, there are 8.6 million women owned businesses.
Studies have shown that women entrepreneurs are a great asset in all areas. The growing role of women entrepreneurs has had a remarkable impact on the economy. Their success proves that removing themselves from unequal and unfair working environments allows them the freedom to fully utilize their business skills, contribute to the economy and create jobs, as well as pay themselves on their own terms.
Although there is still a long way to go before the gender wage gap is completely closed and women can get equal pay, at least there is a bright side to look at. It’s inspiring more then ever entrepreneurship towards women. Women entrepreneurs contribute greatly to society and to the economy. By deciding to set their own pay, they are working harder then ever and becoming an inspiration for women everywhere.
