Job Readiness Room pilot program opens
The city of Carlsbad launches a pilot program called Job Readiness Room to connect workers with entry-level Carlsbad jobs. The program is designed to connect entry-level, excluded, and/or vulnerable workers with basic skills training and connections to Carlsbad employers in manufacturing, office administration, and hospitality and food service. It’s free for candidates and businesses to participate, but employers taking part are asked to guarantee a job interview for a few candidates. Also part of the program are Lightcast, a labor market analytics firm; Bendable, an online course curator from the Drucker Institute; Carlsbad libraries; and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. After completing 15-20 hours of self-paced online skills training, participants receive a micro-credential and are flagged for the chamber to make introductions to businesses.
