Five Black-owned women business owners on the First Coast recently partnered to give professional services to a deserving woman inside Nouvo Studio African-American hair salon.
The Professional Circle of Women used their talents and expertise to provide professional hair services, make-up, photography and videography sessions and in addition provided a gift card dinner for two. The beauty recipient, Jeanilla Lass, a mother who serves in her local community by participating in Cub Scouts, community outreach events and ensuring that community pride is instilled in youth in her neighborhood. “I show compassion and concern for the underserved and I rally others to participate,” shares Jeanilla in her questionnaire response.
To select a recipient, this past November, the Professional Circle of Women (PCOW) conducted a questionnaire among their network that consisted of four questions related to how each woman serves their local community. They all agreed that their inaugural recipient met their criteria of being a woman who gives back to her local community, and is deserving of their professional services. “It’s a gift to be able to give back to the community as business owners. The Professional Circle of Women has a goal to provide this opportunity on an annual basis to continue to give back to deserving women in their community,” said member Daphne Colbert.
The Professional Circle of Women Members partnership includes the following Black-owned women business owners: Gwen Stroud (NouVo Studio & Wellness, and Beauty for Tweens), Porsha Shelton (Glo by Porsha), Jessielyn Wade ( Jessielyn Wade Photography), Antoinette Vaughner (A. Wagner Adventures) and Daphne Colbert (D. Cole Strategic Planning).
