Engineering breakfast
If you got your hands on this article early, there is still time to hightail it to the University of Gloucestershire’s Park Campus for its ‘engineering breakfast’, due to take place on Thursday 1 December 2022.
This is your chance to have a light breakfast on the university, while learning about its brand-new Level 7 professional engineer apprenticeship programme and other degree apprenticeships on offer, as well as bag a tour of the facilities.
Arrive for 8.30am at Park Campus engineering headquarters (LC-040) for tea, coffee and pastries. Speakers begin at 9am, followed by a tour of the facilities at 9.50am, before the event closes at 10.15am.
Sue Ryder’s Christmas party
Pittville Pump Room will host this festive seasonal gathering in aid of Sue Ryder on Friday 2 December 2022. Described as ‘an elegant evening of dinner, dancing and Christmas celebrations’, all funds raised will go to the much-loved Leckhampton Court hospice.
Due to take place from 7pm to 1am, this is a formal black-tie event for families, friends and colleagues, as well as anyone who wishes to attend, to toast the festive season together.
Described as perfect for entertaining business partners, clients or stakeholders as well, prices start from £90 a ticket with a table for 10 costing £850. Tickets include a seasonal three-course meal with wine. Entertainment will be courtesy of Cheltenham-based band, The Chip Shop Boys.
Independent Five Valleys business owners
Enjoy the buzz that comes from being part of Hive Meets, which offers a chance to connect with like-minded and local business owners from in and around Woodchester.
This informal monthly gathering is for independent business owners, start-ups and reactive freelancers and takes place at Woodchester Mill, North Woodchester, which can be found next to Sofas and Stuff on Selsey Road.

Gloucester jobs fair
This pre-Christmas online event on Tuesday 6 December 2022 is billed as a ‘veterans virtual jobs fair’, and is free and due to take place between 11am and 2pm.
HireX says its virtual job fairs ‘connect you directly with veteran-friendly employers’ and offer the chance to land an interview with up to 40 business over the three hours.
Free to veterans and their spouses, attendees register, receive an email with access to the virtual platform up to five days before the event and can register for available jobs and set up interviews in advance.

Staged and hosted by Gloucestershire’s The Growth Hub business support service, this event is led by guest speaker Caroline McShane of Social Honeycomb.
McShane will help you see how your business, however small or large, can get strategic and plan how to use social media to get in front of customers at less cost – and continue to grow.
The Social Honeycomb boss is an experienced social media advisor, who provides expert social media advice, training and management to a variety of businesses and people, but predominantly within sports, health and wellbeing industries. A festive construction-themed AccXtravaganza
To celebrate its first year in business, the high profile Gloucestershire construction school success AccXel is staging its AccXtravaganza! party on Wednesday 7 December 2022.
More than 200 industry professionals and other guests are expected at the Lloyds Banking Group-sponsored event, which will take place between noon and 4.30pm at the AccXel centre itself on Steam Mills Road, Cinderford.
The aim is to mark an end to the first year in style, and speaking of style – guests will also be treated to a special fashion show with models taking to the catwalk sporting the latest in PPE, construction-related gear and merchandise. There will be guest speakers, workshops and exhibitions hosted by experts in the fields of sustainability, mental health, construction technology, digital technology and marketing.
Cirencester Chamber Christmas Social
Cirencester Chamber is due to hold its Christmas social event at the town’s Growth Hub on Wednesday 7 December 2022.
According to the active group, the aim of the gathering is ‘a convivial evening with festive drinks and nibbles with friends and colleagues from our local business community’.

Elaine Warwicker of the business Canny Conversations is due to host this Women in Business Christmas drinks event at Sam’s Montpellier restaurant in The Courtyard in Montpellier, Cheltenham.

Janina Neumann, creative director of Janina Neumann Design and social entrepreneur, will help you understand how to pitch for investment in your charity or social enterprise.
According to Neumann, whose business is helping organisations grow their brands and pitch for investment, a lack of funding or sponsorship can mean that social change does not happen, and this has a great impact on society.
Neumann helped a client generate an extra £35,000 in fundraising as a result of working together, and she will aim to show you how to do the same. Due to take place on Wednesday 14 December 2022 from 9.30am to 12.30am.
Dragon’s Den style pitch
This promises to be one of the high-points of the season, with teams from Gloucestershire schools in the running for prizes in a competition organised by the University of Gloucestershire and The Growth Hub.
Teams will pitch their real business ideas to a panel of businesspeople from the county as part of a process that not only seeks to inspire and engage, but help develop the next generation of talent emerging in the county.
This event promises to get even bigger, thanks to the backing of the university’s business school and its partners. But for the moment, all eyes are on this year’s final on Wednesday 14 December 2022.

This one is not so much an event, as an opportunity – if you are working from home and want to try something new, looking for a temporary new office space, or want to find a place to hold staff or client to customer meetings, this could be of interest.
FigFlex offices in the middle of Gloucester is staging another of its free co-working days, a chance to have a look at what the city centre facility overlooking Gloucester Docks provides and to take advantage of its unlimited tea/coffee and free uninterrupted Wi-Fi.
