Know Your Talent
We all have something we’re good at. Whether it’s writing, taking pictures, mastering the art of Instagram and all things social media…. Everyone has a talent. So find out what yours is. If you’re not sure what that is, find out what you’re passionate about. Maybe you’re an avid movie watcher and love reading books. Make a blog out of it and find out how you can make money through it. Or maybe you’re really good at doing makeup, or have an eye for fashion, or even great at web design. Honestly, sky is the limit. Find out what you’re good at really passionate about.
Once you have that part figured out, do some research online and see how you can turn your passion into profit. Browse the internet, ask your entourage, do a survey. See if there is an actual market out there for it and you’re one step closer to becoming a #BossGirl.
Start Working on Your Business Plan
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to have a fully detailed business plan to start your business. Off course depending on the nature of your business and if you require a large sum of capital that requires you getting a loan, than yes you might need a more solid business plan. Many financial institutions or investors might require you having a fully detailed business plan prior to giving you funding. However, if the business you’re planning to start doesn’t require any upfront money or very little, than you don’t need to have a fully detailed business plan. Just a simple business plan that covers the basis: marketing strategy, targeted audience, cost and profit estimate. Once you have those aspects covered, you have a general idea of how your business will start.
Get your name and your business out there for the world to see! Figure out where your targeted audience is and start hitting those places to promote your business. Whether that’s putting up flyers or leaving business cards in the places you know will be frequented by potential clients, hustle. Create a Facebook page and an Instagram account and start hustling. Also, don’t be afraid of contact companies or people directly who you know will benefit from your services. If you’re serious about becoming an entrepreneur, you need to take that step and hustle. Another great idea is also placing your add online. Websites such as Kijiji, Craigslist and Fiver can go a long way when it comes to free marketing. If your business is selling products but you’re not fully committed to creating a website, no worries! Platforms like Etsy and Amazon can great way to start off.
Invest Your Profits Back Into Your Business
As soon as you’re able to, invest back into your business. Yes we all have loans and bills to pay. And maybe that’s why you decided to start your side hustle. To get a little extra income to help you payoff those loans. But as soon as you’re able to, open a separate account where you will deposit all your profits from your business and invest back into it. If all you’re missing is a little cash flow to make you take your business to the next level, then start putting your profits aside and invest back into it. It’s the only way your business will grow. If you’re serious about becoming a full time entrepreneur, than you need to give it your 100%.
