From Cosmetics Guru to Entrepreneur
While many business owners often know from the very beginning that they will become entrepreneurs, this wasn’t the case for Nicci. You can almost say that entrepreneurship found her rather then the other way around! After covering almost everything in the cosmetics industry, Nicci made her way to pharmaceuticals. More specifically, into medical aesthetics. Quickly realizing that the process of getting a medical aesthetics treatment is not all that enjoyable, she started thinking about how she could do things differently.
I felt like most offices that did Botox and filter treatments did them as an add-on. They viewed them as an afterthought. Like “We do plastic surgery and, by the way, we also can do your Botox.”. And I thought, wow! It’s so interesting how people are spending thousands of dollars and when they go in and get their Botox, they’re treated like a patient.
It was around the era when Drybar had just been launched. The whole concept of going to get your hair done was being completely revolutionized. It was turning into a fun experience. Wanting to do the same thing for the Botox industry, Nicci started brainstorming on some ideas.

Let’s face it when you go in for a Botox procedure, the last thing you want to feel is like you’re a patient at the doctor’s office. Getting a Botox shouldn’t feel like you’re going in for plastic surgery. Why not make the whole experience more enjoyable? Women are already ready to pay thousands of dollars to get Botox. So why not make the process and the experience worth it? Botox should be in its own category. Knowing she had truly found something good here, Nicci worked on a business plan. Once that was set, she raised close to $1 million through investors and was ready to set this in motion.
Her first store opened in Beverly Hills and from there are, it was nothing but success. She has now opened three more locations in Los Angeles which are blooming! The Botox industry has completely revolutionized and Nicci Levy is the reason behind it. So what’s her advice? How can you make your own success story? - Get the right experience: before starting a business in any industry, become an expert at it. Gain the experience so when you start your business, you know everything there is to know about the industry.
- Find a like-minded investor: don’t just get investors for their money, get them because they are as passionate about the project as you are. That way, you have the same vision and they will support and fund your projects because they believe in it as much as you do.
- Target your location: location is everything! Make sure where you set-up shop will attract your targeted audience.
- Prove your concept: it’s crucial to show your investors that there is a need for this. Prove your concept by showing them facts and statistics that there is a need for your business so you can find proper funding for marketing and advertising to turn your business into a success.
