1. Think of your subscribers as one person
Your subscribers will immediately feel the difference. When you stop thinking of your subscribers as a group and think of them individually, like it or not, your e-mails become more personalized. So, instead of addressing your emails to many people or a general person, keep it personal. Use first names. It will give it the personal touch that your clients are craving.
2. Have a schedule and commit to it
The last thing you want is to annoy your clients with never ending e-mails. You don’t want to have them fed up that they eventually unsubscribe from your services and e-mail list. So keep a schedule on how often you should send out e-mails. And make sure you commit to it! For example, if you’re sending e-mails every Wednesday, then keep it that way. Stay consistent. If you’re unsure of the frequency, one e-mail per week is usually standard. You could do two at the most per week, but not more because that’s when you can start getting on people’s nerves. If you’re sending two e-mails per week, make sure to leave a long enough gap in between e-mails. A two to three day gap in between each e-mail is usually standard.
3. Keep it short & sweet
Studies have proven that people usually spend less then 1 minute to read their e-mails. So you want to make sure that your e-mail is short and sweet. In other words, you don’t want it to be too long. And you also want it to be straight forward. If you’re promoting a product or service, get right to it. If you have a sale going on, it should be in your subject line and the first thing you say. Don’t keep the paragraphs too long. Keep your sentences short. Additionally, consider adding a picture or two. But don’t keep it too busy. You want to grab their attention, but at the same time, you want to get your point across.
4. Consider your subject line
It’s the first thing people see when they get your e-mail. So, you want to make sure it’s effective. The point is to have your audience open your e-mails. You don’t want them deleting it or sending it directly to junk mail. So make sure your subject line is attractive. You don’t want it to be too long or vague, but at the same time you want it to be catchy. Consider what your content is about and let that inspire you. 5. Provide value

For example, if you’re in the retail business and you sell clothes, send out an e-mail to your subscribers about the do’s and don’t of fall wear. Or how to be fashionable and professional at work.
