HOUSTON – The University of Houston women’s basketball team plays its third consecutive game against a Conference USA opponent when the Cougars play at rv Middle Tennessee on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Cougars and Blue Raiders.
THE GAME
- Middle Tennessee is the best NET ranked team the Cougars have played this year (18).
- This is the first meeting since 2007 between the two programs.
- The Blue Raiders pummeled #18 Louisville by 18 points on Dec. 4.
- This is the second of three consecutive C-USA opponents for Houston (Rice, Middle Tennessee, UTSA).
LAST TIME OUT
- Houston went to double overtime for the first time since 2018 when it played 50 minutes at Rice.
- Five different Cougars scored in double figures – Blair (20), Patterson (16), Young (15), Onyeje (11), Hill (10).
- Young had a euro-step layup fall in then out at the buzzer of overtime.
- Houston led by 10 points at halftime.
- Laila Blair dished out a season-high five assists.

- Junior Laila Blair was a unanimous Preseason All-Conference First Team selection by The American coaches.
- Blair has scored in double digits nine consecutive games.
- The Cougars were picked to finish second in the league and received two first place votes in the Coaches Poll.
- Blair was one of three players in The American in 2021-22 to make six 3-pointers in one game and the only player in the conference with two games of six-plus 3-pointers made.
- Blair finished eighth in the league in scoring in 2021-22 (13.3 ppg).
- Graduate Tatyana Hill finished seventh in the league in rebounding in 2021-22 (7.3 rpg).
