Andrea Bomo is the founder of Ann & Eli Apothecary, a natural, vegan and handcrafted herbal wellness product supplier. A strong believer that using natural health products can go a long way when it comes to healing, Andrea is motivated to make the world use organic vegan products. All of her products are natural and organic. We met this fabulous lady at a brunch networking event and she told us a little bit about her story and why she decided to launch her company. To say that we were interested in hearing more of her story is an understatement. Fast forward to a few weeks later, we were FINALLY able to have her sit down for an interview. And the rest.. well… read the interview to find out!
BWR: What was the inspiration behind the founding of Ann & Eli Apothecary?
Andrea: The inspiration behind Ann & Eli Apothecary was my personal story of natural and holistic healing. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It’s a hormonal disorder that affects 20% of women and is one of the leading causes of infertility. Before turning 25, I went through two surgeries. I was told that it would be difficult for me to ever have children.
I spent months reading and learning as much as I could on this condition. Educating myself on nutrition, medicinal herbs, and women’s reproductive health. I was looking for natural alternatives to relieve my symptoms and heal. I changed my diet, started using medicinal herbs and natural supplements. Within 6 months, I was able to reverse the condition, balance my hormones and got pregnant naturally.
Going through this was the ultimate « aha moment » because it made me realize how powerful, strong and wise our bodies really are. And most importantly, how important it is for young women to have access to the right resources and information on how their bodies really work. This knowledge was life-changing. During this time, I discovered a new passion: formulating and creating herbal and natural products for women’s wellness.
My intention behind Ann & Eli Apothecary, which is the name of my two daughters, is to provide 100% natural, vegan and organic wellness products for women at all stages of their lives to help them live naturally healthy lives.
BWR: You’re also a Holistic Health Coach. Can you tell us what that is exactly?
Andrea: Holistic health is a mind-body-spirit approach that does not focus only on illness or physical symptoms. But, rather looks at the person as a whole by including all aspects of their lives that may influence their health and wellbeing. A large number of modern diseases are a direct result of our lifestyle, diet and stress levels. Integrating all of these aspects is necessary to address the root cause of illness in order to make the right adjustments to reach optimal health and balance.
My job as a holistic health coach is to provide my clients with practical information, resources, and tools to make healthy choices in their daily lives. I guide and help them stay motivated in their holistic health journey.
BWR: In recent years, more and more people are opting for vegan and organic products. What do you believe is the main reason behind that and what impact do you believe it has on people?
Andrea: I believe everything is connected. Our environment has an impact on us and we have an impact on it. In this time and age, people have more access to information than ever before. That’s why more and more people are able to make conscious choices in what they eat, drink, wear, which products to use and so forth. I think it can only have a positive impact because habits are contagious. If you make conscious and healthy choices, your immediate circle will not only be influenced by it but can also benefit from it.
BWR: What’s been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?
Andrea: My biggest challenge as an entrepreneur has been the multitasking we all go through as entrepreneurs in the early stage of our business. Doing everything on my own from sourcing the herbs, formulating products, branding, packaging, content creation and website design was pretty daunting. Learning to prioritize and sometimes delegate is something I have learned along the way.
BWR: What’s been your biggest accomplishment in your professional life? What are you most proud of?
Andrea: My biggest accomplishment is helping women trust their bodies and find a natural balance. Every single time I receive a message or call from a client telling me how they no longer have chronic health issues, period pain, or were able to conceive naturally after implementing the changes advised and using my products, my heart is full and I am reminded of the very reason why I do what I do. What makes me proud is the ability to touch lives.
BWR: What’s been your biggest marketing strategy?
Andrea: Authentic storytelling. I share my story truthfully from the heart. Most of the people who resonate with it usually support my business and many of them turn into clients. Being authentic helps me find my tribe and the niche I’m here to serve. I can focus on their specific needs rather than trying to reach and please everyone.
BWR: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What is your main goal?
Andrea: In 10 years, I see myself advocating on the global stage for women’s reproductive health. Selling several natural products lines, working with women cooperatives in Africa to source my herbs, writing books, teaching classes, giving conferences and turning my brand into a platform that brings positive change into the lives of women worldwide. My main goal is to create products and services that solve real-life problems and have a social impact.
