25th Season Home Season Begins
The Murray State Racers play the first of 14 home games in the 2022-23 season Saturday when they host the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders (2-1) at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky with a 7 p.m. tip.
Enjoying one of the top home court atmospheres and advantages in all of collegiate basketball, the Racers are playing their 25th season in the CFSB Center, which has had the name on the arena since 2010. The Racers enter the LWU game with an all-time mark of 302-49 (.860) in the place that has come to be known as “The Bank.” In the last five seasons, the Racers have put together a 68-7 (.906) mark. MSU enters the 2022-23 season with a 16-game win streak at home since their last loss against Eastern Illinois on Feb. 18, 2021.
Since a 2014 loss to Houston, the Racers have won their last seven home openers and are 83-14 all-time.
Racer Tradition Among the Best
As the 2022-23 season begins, the Racers are ranked among the best of the best in success and longevity. In the group of schools that have played at least 25 years at the Division I level, the Racers are 41st in all-time wins and 12th in winning percentage. MSU is 1,707-920 (.650).
Racers Open Season at SLU with 91-68 Defeat
The scene Monday at Chaifetz Arena was one of the most rare ever as Coach Steve Prohm began his second tour with the Racers and the team had 12 newcomers on a 14-man roster suit up. The 91-68 loss against the Saint Louis Billikens was certainly a producer of the things the Racers can do well at the moment and it revealed the areas that the team needs to improve.
The Racers saw four starters (Jamari Smith, Rob Perry, JaCobi Wood and Kenny White, Jr.) play in their first game the Navy & Gold. Smith led the Racers with 19 points and Perry added 14.
Racers Playing In Myrtle Beach Invitational
